Anthropologie travels to Rajasthan, India for its March 2015 Lookbook. For this issue, its team visited Jodhpur and Jaipur, two of the state’s most popular travel destinations. No stranger to Indian handiwork, Anthropologie stocks designs from some of the country’s brightest talent like Pankaj + Nidhi, Sachin + Babi, Ranna Gill and Nida Mahmood. So it’s natural that Anthropologie would find inspiration from the Indian Subcontinent for its latest catalogue. Rajasthan has been a popular backdrop recently for other American companies as well. See here.
Notice something different about this campaign? Neelam Gill, the wildly popular British Indian model, is front and center. Who would’ve thought? An Indian modeling in India for an American company.
Looking at the images, it’s no wonder that Anthropologie sources many of its products from India. These photos with their saturated colors, earthy textures, grand romantic backdrops, and exquisite details are like a mirror image of the stores themselves: dramatic and exotic, yet familiar and engaging.
