About

WELCOME

My name is Yasmin, founder of Bangles & Bungalows, a spirited guide to style. I enjoy all things fabulous including a love for blending east and west. While the blog focuses on fashion, beauty and home décor, up and coming creative entrepreneurs also fascinate me. Due to the worldly spin of my blog, I enjoy readership around the world, particularly in Europe and Asia. You can see more of my work as the Graphic Design Director of Zardozi, an online magazine for South Asian women in the West.

WHAT’S IN YOUR NETFLIX CUE?

I love a good British period drama and am always looking for recommendations.

WHAT ARE YOUR ROOTS?

My parents grew up in Udaipur, Rajasthan in India until they moved to New York City where I was born.

HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME?

The words bangles and bungalows are both Sanskrit based, which is a nod to my Indian heritage. I also adore alliteration so it was a no brainer.

WHAT MAKES BANGLES & BUNGALOWS UNIQUE?

While I share a variety of things I love, I have also built the blog as a resource for those interested in infusing South Asian style into their daily lives. Additionally, I want to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to share their stories and inspire a new crop of people on the cusp of starting their own businesses.

LOCATION

St. Louis, MO, but I have also lived in Washington, DC, Ann Arbor, MI, Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY – you could say I’m a nomad.

SECRET HOBBY?

I am a scrapbooking fiend, especially when it comes to making memory books for my friends’ adorable children.

RANDOM TALENT?

I am a walking IMDB – I can recall information about character actors, random bit part actors, and movie resumes for actors in the last 25 years.

THE PERFCT DAY

Doing the crossword puzzle, eating al fresco, boutique shopping (of course!) and a couple scoops of Hazelnut gelato.

WHY DID YOU START YOUR BLOG?

I began it as an experiment where I could learn new skills. The blog has opened doors to a new career in social media consulting, graphic design and freelance writing, which have given me the creative outlet I have been looking for.

HOW DO I SCORE YOUR STYLE?

Browse my curated picks in the Shop for clothing, accessories, beauty and décor. Plus I will be launching a selection of glittering finds all the way from South Asia soon.

CAN WE KEEP IN TOUCH?
