When I got my first clunker car in high school, I struggled to keep it clean. Some say that girls are a lot worse than guys at maintaining a tidy car, and that notion rang true for me. Countless receipts, wrappers, and empty tanning lotion bottles covered the floors of my car…it was pretty nasty. Luckily, I grew out of that. Getting married definitely added to that growth. My husband is a clean dude, which encouraged me to keep our cars looking spiffy. Here are a few tips that can help!
1. Gas Station Stop
Every time you stop to fill up, get those wrappers and receipts out of there! There is always a garbage can right next to the pump, so there is no excuse.
2. Bring It Inside
When you get home, bring everything inside with you. That means that water bottle you used at work or the junk mail you just grabbed before you pulled in. If you leave things in the car, they will most likely pile up.
3. Glove Box Check
The only time I check my glove box is when I get pulled over and need to grab my registration. So…I never check it…obviously! Go through it and get rid of any old tire service receipts or Taco Bell Hot Sauce packets.
4. Car Wash
Get your car washed every couple of months, but don’t forget to get it vacuumed! There are plenty of places that offer self vacuum services, and they are probably cheaper too.
5. Garage Park
If you can, park your car in your garage or under covered stalls. This will help protect the exterior of your vehicle. Who knows, the car-organizing bug may even get you to organize your garage next!
6. Smell Goods
Don’t forget to pick up that car freshener or spray. I love the coconut and tropical smells that Refresh! Brand makes.
