Dainty details are what make a classic floral dress even prettier. Ruffle sleeve dresses, with folds cascading down the side or hanging at the end of a bell sleeve, add a touch of romance to your look. I found this lovely floral number in-store at J.Crew on extra sale for only $40.
Have You Heard of J.Crew Mercantile?
This dress is actually from the J.Crew Mercantile line — what you’d find at Factory, but in a regular non-outlet store. Apparently Mercantile opened in 2015, but I’m only now noticing it as it’s more prominent online. The new branding is a way for J.Crew to appeal to customers who missed the traditional preppy J.Crew style, but want more affordable prices. My question is if it’s now available at J.Crew, what motivation will people have to go out of their way to the outlet malls to shop at Factory?
Am I the only one who misses the extra sparkle that Jenna Lyons brought to J.Crew? Towards the end it was a bit over the top. But when she first took over, I was really excited about what I’d see when I walked into J.Crew. I know that a lot of major chain stores find their discount brands are doing better than their other labels (i.e. Old Navy vs. Gap or Banana Republic). But I’m wondering what exactly J.Crew stands for right now. It seems to be in limbo and I hope it survives. What do you think?
