Why You’ll Want to Spend the Day Hanging at Hello Juice

October 4, 2018  |  Food 11 comments

I’m always looking for cute and clever spaces in my city to hang, eat, or work at. Whether you’re in St. Louis like me or in a big city like NYC, it’s fun to discover new hot spots. The best part is sharing them with friends. Bragging rights for finding cool places are their own reward. But when a space makes you feel like you’re somewhere other than your city, you know it’s extra special. That’s how I felt when I stepped into St. Louis’s new craft smoothie & juice bar, Hello Juice St. Louis.

Hello Juice St. Louis

Jordan and Kayla Bauer came up with the idea for Hello Juice on their Hawaiian honeymoon. While enjoying smoothie bowls at an island juice bar, they realized St. Louis had nothing like it. Over the next year they experimented with pop-up juice shops and launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund their venture. Their ultimate goal was to take the idea one step further from a grab-and-go juice bar and make it a lounge — somewhere you’d want to come stay a while.

The Ambience at Hello Juice

When you step into this St. Louis juice bar and smoothie lounge, it’s got that California laid-back chic vibe. Bright natural light shines through wall-to-wall windows, bouncing off the high ceilings to create an open and inviting atmosphere. Leafy plants, rattan furniture, and macramé wall hangings decorate the space in earthy tones. And of course, lots of photogenic smoothie bowls and fancy toast are on the menu to delight your senses.

The Hello Juice Menu

Speaking of the food, Hello Juice endeavors to be as local and organic as possible. The juice selection varies daily depending on what’s fresh and in season. The day I walked in there was a watermelon blend that sounded oh so refreshing.

If you’re looking for something a little heartier, they have a rotating list of smoothie options available in a cup ($7.50), great for on-the-go or with some toast, or a bowl ($9.50) for a fuller meal. If you want to get fancy, you can add extra toppings like granola, chia seeds, coconut, berries, or a wellness boost. Other options on the Hello Juice menu include salads ($9), toast ($5), coffee ($5), and yogurt bowls ($5).

For a blend of sweet and savory, I suggest ordering a cup of the Acai smoothie and a slice of Avocado Seed toast (featuring local bread from Knead Bakehouse). They’ve recently introduced bone broth to the menu, just the thing to warm you up and boost your immune system during the winter season.

Located at 1000 S Newstead, Hello Juice is within walking distance of Central West End, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, The Cortex, and The Grove. This St. Louis juice bar is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. With free wi-fi and great street parking, you might find me there clicking away at my computer with a glass of fresh pressed juice by my side. Hadid Family Dinner

The Hadids filmed an eccentric and spooky family feast to celebrate the best looks from NYFW. You’ll love the choreography and the spunky banter. Watch it on Vogue.com.

The New J.Crew

I’ve always shopped at J.Crew since I was in high school. I know the brand has been struggling lately. So it’s nice to see it’s finally revamped. While I love seeing fun new designs in store, I’m wondering how much of the experience will change for shoppers. I related to this review from Business Insider. Shop the featured dress here.

Chocolate Heart

I know this treat went viral in February, but I’m just discovering it now. There’s something about watching gooey chocolate get pulled apart that tickles my taste buds. I literally went out and bought some chocolate after viewing this video. Watch how the 2 pound chocolate heart gets crafted in this Food Insider video.

This Acid Is Blowing Up Skincare

As someone who suffers from hormonal adult acne, I’m always looking for the next best thing that will help me get rid of acne scars and hyperpigmentation. Apparently tranexamic acid does the trick. Read more about the power of this skincare ingredient on Byrdie.com.

Anything you’re currently delighted by? I’d love to know what has caught your eye lately.

All the Leopard Print Pieces You’ll Want Right Now

September 10, 2018  |  Fashion 2 comments

I’m all about leopard print – as a bold statement print (seen here), to accessorize with (seen here), and especially mixed with other prints like polka dots or stripes (seen here). In fact this natural print makes a fabulous neutral, with its various hues of browns and blacks that are simple to style around.

Leopard print really never goes out of style, but it does ebb and flow in popularity. This fall, you’re going to see a lot more animal print, especially leopard, in stores. Need help narrowing down the best affordable options? I’ve shared a few flattering leopard items below you’ll love, including this $30 asymmetrical skirt by Who What Wear I’ve styled here.

How to Find Affordable Jumpsuits That Fit with These Easy Tricks

September 7, 2018  |  Fashion 7 comments

I’m always on the hunt for flattering pieces that I know I’ll look good in. My simple style formula involves a stand-out color or print, a feminine detail, and a great fit. I’ve shared a few affordable jumpsuits below that follow this formula. While finding jumpsuits that fit can be tricky, these options will help flatter your figure due to one simple feature they all share. Read on to find out!

5 Affordable Jumpsuits You Won't Want to Miss

Jumpsuit: Old Navy / Headband: c/o J. Jill / Bag: c/o Boden (similar) / Sandals: c/o Boden

Selecting Jumpsuits that Fit Well

When planning an outfit, the less pieces you have to assemble, the easier it is to craft a look. That’s why jumpsuits are always such a cinch.

1. Speaking of a cinch, I always look for ones that have some sort of waist-defining moment to create that hourglass figure. That could mean a belt, a stretchy center, or simple stitching that separates the top from the bottom. This way you’re not left with one of those jumpsuits that’s overly long and baggy in the torso.

2. In case you wind up with a jumpsuit that lacks shape in the middle, you can improvise by wrapping a shirt or sweater around your waist as shown here. That way you’ll also have a cover up if it gets cold later.

3. And if you prefer jumpsuits with long torsos, try choosing one that is elasticized below the chest like this one. It will make you appear taller by emphasizing the length of your legs. Plus it makes your chest look great!

I also look for a jumpsuit with pockets because why not? I love having somewhere to put my hands!

8 Affordable Jumpsuits to Try

All of these options are fitted at the waist either with a belt or a cinched elasticized waist to guarantee a better fit. These jumpsuits range from only $20 to $70, some with an extra sale discount. STYLE TIP: Try restyling your jumpsuit’s belt on other outfits or even as a headband.
