New Year’s Eve is less than three weeks away. If you’re planning on an evening out on the town, this holiday provides every excuse to wear the glitziest dress you can find. Whether you want to shine in satin or silk, sparkle in sequins or rhinestones, or be oh so soft in velvet or faux fur…there’s a dress out there for you. If you’re looking for New Year’s Eve dresses, I’m sharing some of my favorite options starting at around $35. And if head to toe sequins aren’t your thing, check out other fabulous holiday party dresses here.
This year I’m celebrating with NYE Live! at Ballpark Village in St. Louis to watch the ball drop at midnight. If you’d like to attend, you can get $10 off with code NYELiveSTL3here. I’m still narrowing down my outfit options like this gold velvet dress. It’s only $35 and there are still a few sizes left.

More New Year’s Eve Dresses You’ll Love
I’m usually more of a homebody. But when I see a gorgeous sparkly dress, I’m motivated to dress up and go out. I’d love to celebrate in any of these pretty New Year’s Eve dresses. My eye is on that pleated emerald green dress. How about you? Which one would you wear?
Oh holiday sweaters, how I love thee! No, not the ugly sweater kind. Although, those are always fun for a night. But the adorable holiday sweaters with endearing embellishments. Give me all the pompoms, wraparound Christmas lights, cuddly winter animals, and sparkles. These sweaters are usually 3D, meaning there’s something puffy or soft that’s totally touchable on them. Why are they so dang cute? Because they’re doing double duty keeping you warm and getting you into the holiday spirit.
This adorable fair isle sweater has got little pompom hats on it that match with the pompom hat I’m wearing. If that doesn’t make you go aww, then you may not have a heart.

If you love holiday sweaters as much as I do, here are some of my favorite ones right now. They’ll keep you festive and cheery throughout the season.
And now that you’ve got your holiday sweater ready to go, here’s some great ideas for holiday gifts and holiday dresses you’ll love.
The holiday party season is all about glitz and glamour. Whether you have a company gala or an intimate dinner party, you want to look your best. I’m sharing my favorite holiday party dresses from Boden all styled at the beautiful new Angad Arts Hotel, one of the classiest spots in St. Louis. These dresses will get you in the holiday spirit, and of course, on the dance floor. So put on your dancing shoes, or stylish boots you love, and get ready for a night on the town.
A garden party print, fluttery kimono sleeves, and an adorable bow tied waist add the prettiest details to the flattering midi silhouette of the Emilie Midi dress. I love the adjustable tie waist so there’s more room for later. You can easily stuff your face without worrying about how much you eat.
And of course you won’t want to forget this cozy faux fur jacket. It’s so luxe, you might not want to take it off until the dancing starts.

The Rebecca Satin dress is amazing. I didn’t expect it to be as flattering as it was. Satin skirts and dresses are hot right now. Style it with a little extra bling like shimmery shoulder dusting earrings and a slim jewel embellished belt. Alternatively, I’d also pair this dress with animal print accessories for bold pops of print. You’ll look ravishing in this dress whether you’re headed to an elegant cocktail party or gala.

The Angad Arts Hotel
Located in the Grand Center Arts District of St. Louis, Angad Arts Hotel offers a first of its kind hospitality experience. Guests may choose a room based on the emotion of color: red for passion, blue for tranquility, yellow for happiness, or green for rejuvenation.
The hotel boasts one of the most unique lobby experiences in St. Louis. The lobby is located on the 12th floor where guests first step into the Chameleon Lounge. This room features white and gold touches and is anchored by a giant lamp with an immersive 360-degree video art experience. Off to the left is a purple playroom where you can enjoy your favorite instrument or game. Take the stairs up to the Rainbow Terrace where you can hang in their indoor rooftop lounge or take in sweeping city views on the balcony outside.
And of course the brand new Grand Tavern restaurant by Chef David Burke is now open. Whimsically titled classic American fare like emotional lobster dumplings or a cheesecake lollipop tree will leave you wanting more. I’ll be sharing my dining experience later this month on the blog.

Now that Halloween is over, it’s time to start thinking about winter holiday décor. I shopped Kohl’s November Home Sale to demonstrate a few affordable ways I like to bring holiday cheer to the bedroom. Since the bedroom is a place for relaxation, small touches go a long way with your holiday bedroom décor. These tips are for those who want chic, yet subtle seasonal elements they can mix into their existing décor.
Add Extra Layers
To combat the winter cold, layering with a blanket and throw will give you more options to stay warm as temperatures fluctuate. Throws can also add color and texture to your bedding. I’ve paired The Big One Supersoft Plush Blanket with the Cuddl Duds Jacquard Sherpa Fleece Throw. These two will keep you warm whether you feel like a light blanket or need to double up. Plus, the adorable moose print on the Sherpa fleece adds a fun seasonal element to your holiday bedroom décor.
Wintry Cabin Highlights
To keep my bedroom décor on trend beyond Christmas, I’ve chosen a chic wintry cabin vibe. Earthy tones like khakis and greens are classic and suit the evergreen holiday aesthetic. That’s why I selected the Cuddl Duds Microfiber Sheet Set. The forest critters motif brings the outdoors in and the light neutral hues complement the elegant white and gold tones of my room.
Refresh Your Pillows (+ How to Find the Perfect Pillow)
Your pillows may lose their shape and fluffiness over time. You should replace them every 6 to 36 months depending on the quality and fill. Since I’m a side sleeper, I chose the Serta Down Illusion Firm Bed Pillow. Not sure what type of pillow you need? Kohl’s guide will help you find the perfect pillow. Bonus: Add an extra wintry touch with a warm and fluffy faux fur pillow you’ll want to cuddle with.
Holiday Bedroom Décor Accent Colors
Your bedroom is your sanctuary and thus should be a place you can easily unwind for the night. Since holiday colors are usually vivid and bright, I like to keep holiday accent colors to a minimum. Playful holiday hues here and there in bedding and décor are a treat for the eyes. But they shouldn’t overwhelm the senses.
Seasonal Touches
Thoughtful seasonal touches to update your bedroom will help get you in the spirit. For example, I adore snow globes this time of year. Set one on your nightstand. If it’s the first thing you see in the morning, you’re bound to start the day with the holidays on your mind. For the evening, a holiday scented candle will create an inviting bedroom atmosphere and calm you before bed. And of course, don’t forget to wear your holiday pajamas. This adorable Cuddl Duds Pajamas-in-a-Bag Set is super soft.
Declutter Your Space
Things pile up over time from shopping bags and shipping boxes to suitcases and laundry baskets. Clearing out these extra items will not only clear the space but also your mind. It’ll make room for fun holiday essentials like a mini tree or mistletoe.
Want to get this chic wintry holiday look for your bedroom? Shop Kohl’s November Home Sale (11/7 – 11/18) for quality home essentials at amazing prices. Girls’ Night Out (GNO) is a time honored tradition. We women look forward to letting loose with our gal pals for unadulterated fun. But sometimes an ordinary GNO is not enough. That’s why my friends Elena, Julia, Mattea and I booked a staycation courtesy of The Chase Park Plaza Royal Sonesta in St. Louis. Situated in the heart of the Central West End, they have everything you need for an amazing night out.
Hanging outside the entrance to the Chase Park Plaza
The Central West End
Before checking in, we spent some time hanging out in the Central West End (CWE). It’s a bustling area full of trendy shops, award winning restaurants, and exciting nightlife. During the holidays, its especially charming with the festive decor and larger than life Christmas tree.
The Suite Life
Upon entering our suite, we were pleasantly surprised with a big treat to help us kick off GNO. The concierge had set up all the trimmings for a mini happy hour including drinks, macaroons, a hearty cheeseboard, and assorted snacks. Needless to say, we demolished that cheeseboard in a flash.
For GNO, we booked an adjoining suite for the four of us. Between the en suite bathrooms, lounge, and dining area, there was plenty of space to relax, get glam, and rock out.
Mattea and I going crazy over the awesome suite and delicious cheeseboard
Getting Glam
Since we checked in around 4pm, there was more than enough time to catch up, gossip, and munch away. But before we knew it, the afternoon had flown by and it was time to get ready for the evening’s festivities.

Fireside Drinks
We headed downstairs for drinks by the outdoor fireplace. It was a cozy and intimate spot where we could relax and enjoy each other’s company before dinner. As you can see, when we’re together we can’t stop cracking each other up.
Dinner at the Chase Club
I used to hang out at the Chase Club in college when it was known as Cafe Eau. It’s long been a popular nightlife staple in St. Louis for those seeking an elevated, yet casual setting with light bites and live entertainment. The Chase Club was recently renovated with brand new decor and a fresh menu full of flavorful gastropub fare. The restaurant has the feel of the classic American hotel bar with a twist.
Since we brought our appetites, we decided to try almost everything on the menu. I especially recommend the shrimp appetizer, bulgogi wrap, and gooey butter cake, a St. Louis favorite.
After the Party, It’s the Hotel Lobby
The Chase Park Plaza Royal Sonesta also happens to be one of the most sought after places for weddings and galas due to its location, history, and grandeur. The lobby was alive with guests spilling out from the hotel’s various events. So we took advantage of the buzzing atmosphere and hopped around the cozy corners of the hotel lobby.
Since the holiday season was in full swing, we reveled in the Christmas decor including an array of sparkling trees, looming nutcracker dolls, a gingerbread replica of St. Louis, and Santa himself. There’s something about ornaments on a tree that puts me in Christmas spirit overdrive.
Once we captured our last glamour shot, it was time for PJs, no makeup, and a late night gabfest back at our suite. It had been too long since I’d enjoyed a good old fashioned sleepover with friends. That’s the beauty of renting a suite for GNO — the night doesn’t have to end.
This is actually the third time I’ve enjoyed a staycation at the Chase. Each time I’m reminded by how grand the hotel is, luxurious the rooms are, and exciting the lobby scene is. If you’re looking for a fun change to your typical girls’ night out in St. Louis, consider booking a suite at The Chase Park Plaza Royal Sonesta. You deserve a night away!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you’re taking some time to indulge yourself today, whether it’s with chocolate, flowers, a night on the town, or Netflix for one. One of my favorite things about celebrating a holiday is the festive atmosphere, which usually involves dressing up. So I thought I’d share a little Valentine’s Day date night style. Check out how I styled this gorgeous pink origami-style wrap skirt from Finery London.
Since pink and red are synonymous with the celebration of romance, I thought I’d go all in. The trick to wearing two bright colors together? Well red and pink are a divine combination. But if you want subtlety, I suggest featuring one color in a statement piece, like this pink skirt. Then accent the rest of the outfit with pops of the other color: a red belt, clutch and heels in this case. This look isn’t complete without a skinny red belt, a fabulous way to break up two solid colored pieces.

New Year’s Eve is thought of as a night when one door closes and another opens. You think about all that you’ve accomplished in the past year and everything you hope to do in the next. But when you wake up on New Year’s Day, you realize that it’s just another day. It’s not the dawn of a new age or the tipping point to some new you. Still, we force that utopian ideal by casting New Year’s resolutions to improve ourselves. It’s a new year, so why not a new you?
The problem with lofty New Year’s resolutions is their inevitable abandonment and the guilt that comes next. There’s nothing wrong with setting them. But it’s important to realize that self-improvement is an ongoing life long strategy. It doesn’t have to start on January 1st and be accomplished by December 31st.
Vision Board: Inspiration for New Year’s Resolutions 2017
This January 1st, I’m going to give myself a pat on the back for surviving 2016. Instead of focusing on a timetable, I will tackle challenges on my own terms. Rather than fixating on what I don’t get done, I will embrace the fact that I’m human. I will take greater pride in my accomplishments. As I keep pushing forward, if I get stuck, I will remind myself to simply begin anywhere.
Here are some of the things I accomplished in 2016 and the challenges I look forward to in the coming year:
Cooking for a healthier lifestyle. They say getting fit is 20% exercise, 80% diet. In 2016, I started cooking for myself a lot more, including adding more fresh vegetables in my meals, and eating more protein. I also cut a lot of dairy out of my diet. I hope to continue on this path and eat out less frequently. Although I will indulge happily from time to time when I eat healthy during the week.
Regular exercise. This year I have focused on working out harder at the gym. I have yet to bring that discipline to at-home workouts. I’ve realized in the past year that working out at home is just not my cup of tea. So this year I will try to explore outdoor activities like walking, tennis, or hiking.
Edgier Fashion blogging. I have shot almost 70 outfit looks in the past year, most photographed on my own, which is more than I imagined. However, I feel like I’ve hit a rut with my style. This year I will challenge myself to mix it up. I will bring a new edge to the way I style my looks or pose for the camera.
Take more responsibility. I have been reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. One lesson it teaches you is that many people have difficulties in life such as mental illness, physical disabilities, family deaths, etc. The people who take responsibility for their experiences often go on to accomplish great things. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, they find a way to own the problem and achieve highly regardless of it. I realize that this a mindset shift that will take a long time to change. Becoming more aware is a good first step.
Get out of your comfort zone. Or just get out of the city and go places. I’m young and single. I can travel anywhere at almost anytime. Not a lot of people have that luxury and I should take more advantage of it. Before I know it, I’ll be old and have bad knees. Basically, I should climb Machu Picchu while I still can.
What are your thoughts on New Year’s expectations, resolutions, and what you hope to accomplish?
And for those of you who say FU to resolutions, this video is for you:
