If you’re ready to flaunt those abs, then go for a crop top with a flared midi. I love this eyelet crop top from Topshop. If you want to be modest, wear the crop top over an untucked button down shirt and throw a blazer on top. To go for the Va Va Voom, add some killer metallic heels to counter the softness of the pastels. These Sophia Webster pumps make a great investment as the rainbow design allows them to match up with many other pieces in your wardrobe. Top off the look with layered necklaces like these from J.Crew. The brand is known for mixing pastels and metallics in its jewelry design, which works perfectly with this outfit. Finally, finish with metallic pink polish to go with your pumps. Chanel polish glides on easily every time for a beautiful glossy finish.
Have you heard? Gordmans has recently launched a new Misses Contemporary department. Find dressy and casual pieces to mix and match for your lifestyle. Kensie, Jessica Simpson and BB Dakota are just a few of the top brands you can shop for up to 60% off department store prices.
Gordmans sells both apparel and home décor with 90 stores in 19 states. I visited their location in St. Charles, MO, but there are 9 other stores to choose from. Visit their new Arnold location for one of their largest selections in contemporary and affordable style.
My favorite brand at Gordmans has to be Jack, a subsidiary of BB Dakota. Jack’s pieces are on trend with sleek silhouettes and bold colors. I absolutely love yellow and had to have this versatile tank, which can be dressed up or down. I styled it two ways – first by layering it with three pendant necklaces and second with a gold beaded turquoise scarf from Gordmans. Light and bright colors mix well, especially for summertime!
The best find of the trip had to be the studded teal belt. You must check out the accessories section for inexpensive treasures. I got this belt and a white braided belt for only $10 combined! My tank cost $20 and the scarf was $12. All in all, it was a great haul.

We are heading into the second half of summer and you know what that means — sales are on! Shops are discounting their current season to make space for Fall/Winter collections. One of my favorite items to go on sale is of course J.Crew jewelry. J.Crew’s designs and quality are always top notch, so much so that bargain stores are always coming out with knockoffs. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the sale. I’ve already got #3 and #6 and am now eyeing #9. Snap them up now before they are gone!
Use discount code SALEFUN for an extra 40% off discounted prices. The prices shown above are the final sale price after the 40% off discount (yes I’ve done the math for you!) before taxes and shipping. #3 and #9 are actually 50% off with the code. So go forth and shop ’till you drop! What are you eyeing?

I paired it with accessories in various shades of green. You don’t have to be matchy match with your colors. If it’s in the same color family, it goes and the different hues add interest. I simply adore this statement necklace I got from J.Crew. It’s got two of my favorite shades – blush and mint. And I got it for a deep discount at $55 down from $138. Shopping tip: If you are ever at the Grove in LA, they have the best deals that I’ve found from J.Crew. Plus, much of their cold weather stuff is usually discounted way earlier than in the Midwest/East coast.
I topped off my look with a leather jacket I got from TopShop. Well, it’s leather-like. But it looks so close to the real thing. At $100, I finally have a leather jacket I can throw on without having to spend hundreds of dollars. If you’ve been dying for the leather look, but can’t afford the real thing, definitely try this one out!
It was another wonderful day shooting with the fabulous Taylor of Kalhu Photography. The cut of my dress immediately reminded me of the one Sandy wore in Grease on her date with Danny. Paired with the leather jacket, I knew a diner would be the perfect spot to shoot. So Taylor suggested we head downtown to the City Diner. Right next to the Fox Theatre, it’s a great spot for a late night bite after the show.

What I love about Goodnight Macaroon are the numerous fashion options, many of which are under $100. Find the perfect pieces to complete your street style or celebrity inspired look. As one of the top online shopping boutiques, it is super popular with bloggers. You cannot go wrong with these pieces, which can be mixed and matched easily for a complete head-to-toe look. New collections are updated weekly.
While catching the last few days of spring, I paired two of my favorite pastel colors — blush and mint. I channeled Zardozi Magazine’s guide to wearing pastel here, which suggests mixing similar tones that are punctuated lightly with gold accents.
I bought this skirt on sale at Gilt and kept it in my closet forever. You know how it is. You finally decide to try a trend and the piece starts to collect dust until you find the perfect way to style it. I think I bought five midi skirts before I finally settled on this one. It is classic, pretty and versatile. You could pair it with a crop top, a blush shirt for a monochromatic look or even throw a leather jacket on top for a tougher look. I finally settled on this style. What do you think?
Midi skirts are a fabulous way to add volume. Just be sure to wear a fitted top to balance out the shape. I chose a button down for a classic look. Break up the top and bottom with a belt in a contrasting color or with an interesting texture like beadwork. Use a bright bag to bring in other pastel shades. And finish off with metallic heels.
I am also excited to share the stunning work by Taylor of Kalhu Photography. I had a wonderful time shooting with her at Shaw Park in Brentwood. Not only did she make me look beautiful in the afternoon light, she answered my long list of questions about photography. If you are looking for a friendly, dynamic and versatile photographer, check out her work here.
Professional dancer Aminah Abdul Jillil has always been a fan of fashion. For someone who has performed with top acts like Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and Cirque du Soleil, she knows a thing or two about costumes, embellishments and street culture. She has taken her eye for design and pointed it toward fancy footwear. By starting her own line of high style shoes, she is able to design for her favorite consumer — herself. When she shopped for shoes, she brainstormed ideas here and there to match her style. So she thought why not design my own shoes?

Aminah likes clean lines with a bit of fun. You will find over the top embellishments that pop up in unexpected places and the shoes sell at prices that won’t break the bank. Her fans include Rihanna, top bloggers like Aimee Song and fashion impresarios Vogue and Glamour. Which style is your favorite?
That’s where Cuyana comes in. Cuyana means to love in Quechua (a South American language). Cuyana’s team focuses on simple, elegant design their customers will adore. They look for classic shapes and colors to create pieces that outlast seasonal trends.
Founders Kara Gallardo and Shilpa Shah wanted to create a fashion experience that was more fulfilling than the typical fast fashion lifestyle many are now accustomed with. By thinking more about selecting your pieces, how you will wear them and where they come from, you can get into the habit of intentional buying. Cuyana’s guiding principle: “We believe we can function with fewer things if they are better made.” It’s about quality over quantity.
They even created a movement for this — the Lean Closet Movement. Yup, they mean business. Cuyana challenges you to collect fewer things of higher quality. Then donate the unnecessary pieces in your wardrobe so they are no longer crowding your space. When you purchase an item from Cuyana, select “lean shipping” at checkout. They will send you a reusable bag to fill with unwanted items. Mail the bag back to them and they will donate the items for you. With each donation you make, you receive a $10 credit towards your next Cuyana purchase. Sounds like a win-win!
The current Spring 2014 collection features items from all the countries they have already sourced from in the past nine collections. Shop the line here.
What do you think about Cuyana? Are you ready to clean out your closet and live with a paired down wardrobe?
