Summertime is upon us! When I think of summer style, I think of swimwear. This space is a judgment-free, #NOFOMO zone. So feel free to exercise your favorite swimwear styles with abandon. I for one am rocking two of my favorite summer swimwear trends this season: tropical and Americana! It’s important to plan your entire look, not just the swimsuit. So here are a couple of tips on styling your summer swimwear looks from head to toe with #TargetStyle.
Tip #1: Mixing Prints
When it comes to tropical style, I am obsessed with palm prints. This particular swimsuit features a gorgeous two-toned palm print against a colorful backdrop of flowers. So what does one pair with something already so busy? STRIPES! I love to choose a striped top (navy stripes are my favorite) in a complementary color. Plus, mixing stripes and florals is a no-brainer. What I love about the look below is that while you keep it simple on the outside, others won’t expect the killer printed swimsuit hiding underneath.
BONUS! I found the Mad Love Lydia canvas slip-ons I wore above to be perfect for the beach. Unlike open sandals, the sand barely made it inside my shoes. So they’re great to wear for a stroll on the beach.
Tip #2: Details Make All the Difference
Red, white and blue is a classic combination. You can definitely wear it on 4th of July weekend, but this color trio is stylish all season long. Whether you’re all about showing off the bold stars and stripes or prefer a more subtle approach, show your patriotic side this summer in your own way. I adore this tankini with its understated mini star print. But the real star of this suit is the red stripe strap detail. Check out that back!
When you’re done splashing in the water, throw on this breezy dress below with lacey details. It says lady in the front, and siren in the back! Plus, it gives you another chance to show off peeks of that gorgeous red stripe strap detail. And don’t forget to carry everything in this must-have tote from #TargetStyle. Not only is the tassel adorable, but also the tote is super lightweight. It doesn’t add the extra bulk that many large bags do.
And if it’s a bit cooler outside (my legs get super cold), opt for jeans and a cute tank top. This tank was a bit long for my petite frame, so I pulled out a little 90s style trick that I love. Just knot it up and you’re ready to go!
I for one am going to be wearing this tank on repeat. I’ve never met a stripe I didn’t love! Did you notice my striped red, white and blue canvas slip-ons? Yes — stripe on stripe is a total DO.
What are your favorite summer trends this season? I’d love to know.
