Target has really been stepping up its style with multiple amazing fashion lines. And now it’s got an extensive inventory of chic and affordable decor items. I’m gushing over the new Target for Opalhousedebut line featuring bold colors, eclectic details, and travel inspired designs. If you’re looking for statement pieces, you’ll find many items for under $30. And if you’re like me, you’ll want to fill your cart up.
The line includes three collections: Indochina, Canyon Sunrise, and Mallorca. Feel free to mix and match the pieces or shop your favorite style exclusively. One of my favorite product lines (aside from the fabulous furniture options) is the peel and stick wallpaper, which comes in a myriad of fun and colorful designs — perfect for an accent wall, alcove, or bookshelf.
Catching the spray of this lovely waterfall in Target Swim #NOFOMO
I often dream of a beach getaway, but rarely take the plunge to visit the tropical destinations I fantasize about. White sandy beaches, warm breezes and crystal blue waters dance around in my head. But what never crosses my mind in this fantasy is me…in a bathing suit…on the beach. Bathing suit shopping is usually the last thing that gets me excited about a beach vacation. Did you know one third of women would sacrifice a vacation to avoid being seen in a suit? I will do everything to cover up, even when I’m lying on the beach, until the absolute last minute when I want to get in the water. Part of it is the culture of modesty that I grew up with and part of it is age. With age I’ve found that there’s a whole lot more of me to love if you know what I mean. You could say I’ve become “well-rounded” haha. But when I first joined Target Swim’s #NOFOMO campaign last month I realized that size ain’t nothing but a number. It’s all about your attitude. If you’re confident in a suit you love, you have nothing to fear. So here I am, embracing my newfound swimsuit body confidence while taking on another Target Swim challenge.
The last time I visited the beach was on my trip to Martha’s Vineyard two summers ago. All of my girlfriends wore their cutest cover-ups over their bathing suits from dresses to kimonos. I, on the other hand, chose to wear a t-shirt, sweatshirt and boyfriend jeans – the less skin, the better. I also had a swim skirt to go under my bathing suit. So you could imagine I was pretty hot and uncomfortable. I didn’t think anyone needed to see my buck white legs and chubby arms.

Once I got comfortable on the beach, I was still pretty covered up with a towel wrapped around my legs. I envied the little kids running around and enjoying themselves in their teeny suits and my friends catching sun in their bikinis. It gave me a bit of encouragement to get in the water. Once I did, I emerged a bit more relaxed. I even let the towel go and laid on it (rather than under it). By the time we left the beach, I realized how much I was missing out by caring about what I looked like.
Looking forward to beach days ahead in my new, beach appropriate cover up #NOFOMO
This year I’m saying goodbye to the usual jeans and sweatshirt uniform. I’m going to hit the beach in my new cover-up, which I’m absolutely in love with. It’s lightweight, has a lovely floral pattern and still gives me plenty of coverage. On the way to the beach, I’ll feel fun, flirty and fearless whether I’m lounging seaside or grabbing a bite on the boardwalk. I’ll be confident that I’m part of the festivities, rather than an outsider looking in, without any fear of missing out.
Catch you later! I’m ready to dive right in the water. #NOFOMO
It’s never too late to embrace your body and one of the best places to overcome these fears is at the beach. Take the Target Swim challenge on your blog or social media. I’d love to know how you plan on kicking your fears to the curb. Don’t forget to tag #NOFOMO and #TargetStyle to help share your journey.

For swimsuit season, I’ve partnered with Target to share some fun style tips to help you put your best foot forward with confidence at the beach, the pool or even sunbathing in your backyard.
Last year I wanted to get my body moving to increase my energy, improve my health and tone up those areas that were starting to feel like jelly. I enlisted a close friend to help me with my goal. I find working out with a friend to be way more fun and that it also keeps you honest. One of her goals was to fit into a bikini by summer. The thought of wearing a swimsuit hadn’t even crossed my mind. Shopping for a swimsuit seemed dreadful, right up there with finding a flattering pair of jeans. Actually, 38% of women find swimsuit shopping to be one of the most stressful parts of planning a vacation.
You know what I realized? The fear was mostly in my head. I took something like shopping, one of my favorite stress-relievers (hello, retail therapy!), and turned it into the enemy. When Target invited me to become a TargetStyle influencer, I asked myself, “Am I ready to shop swimsuits?” Turns out it really wasn’t much of a hurdle. Target made it easy and fun to find the right fit and style with its extensive variety, refreshed monthly.
I purchased my swimsuits online and used Target’s easy-to-follow size guide. The items were shipped to me for free and arrived earlier than expected. (They also offer free returns on online orders so you can shop with ease and confidence.)
I was impressed with how well the cuts of the suits fit every angle of my body. The material was high quality. And I must say, Target put their flair for style front and center with these swimsuit designs.
I absolutely adore the palm print, probably my favorite print of the summer. So when I saw this Merona suit, I knew I had to have it. The optional thin halter strap gave it a retro vibe, which I love. I could live under this hat and nap on the beach all day in this suit. Just warn me before my skin turns pink!
This next suit by Clean Water could not be missed. If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for prints, and polka dots are the daintiest of them all! Polka dots, stripes and ruffles — well take me out of the oven, because I’m done. This suit is A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E. I’d wear it on the beach with girlfriends while sipping lemonade and stealing shade under a cabana.
For this last suit by Merona, I stepped away from the prints to embrace a solid color and it’s anything but boring. The turquoise hue is hot. Paired with a lightweight Tori Praver kimono, this look absolutely pops. What I like most is the way the fabric drapes across the body. I can enjoy all the chips and guac I want, and not worry about belly bulge later.
So there you have it. The girl who wasn’t looking for a swimsuit found three that she loves. I’m excited to hit the beach this summer. Now, where to go?
